ART IN FELT AND ON PAPER
When I was a child, my family occasionally visited a relative’s small, rustic, seaside house on Cape Cod. Tacked to the eaves above the hallway bed there was a neatly hand lettered sign that said Rabbit Rabbit. My mother explained that her cousin had put it there long ago to remind him to say Rabbit Rabbit out loud the first thing on the first day of a new month, which would bring him good luck. My siblings and I were intrigued by this and adopted the practice. When I first began to use social media, I would post it first thing in the morning on the first of the month. One day I decided to make a picture instead, and I have done so ever since. Now I plan them in advance and they have been getting more elaborate. I post them around midnight the night before so others will be reminded. Does this practice really bring good luck? You’ll have to try it and see. It can’t hurt! And it’s been a fun challenge.
